Where Are the Best Locations for Family Photographs in Springfield?

When families book a photoshoot with me, one of the first questions they ask is:
"Where should we have our family photographs in Springfield?"
The good news is that Springfield has some beautiful locations that offer a variety of natural backdrops, whether you're dreaming of golden sunlight through the trees, peaceful lakeside scenery, or a comfortable indoor studio session.
As a Springfield family photographer, I've photographed hundreds of families over the years, and these are the locations I keep coming back to because they consistently create beautiful, timeless images.
1. Robelle Domain - My Favourite Location for Family Photographs in Springfield.
If I had to choose just one location for family photographs in Springfield, it would be Robelle Domain.
This location has never let me down.
My favourite area is where the tall trees allow the afternoon sunshine to filter gently through the branches. The soft backlighting creates a beautiful glow around families, giving photographs a dreamy, storybook feel, as though you've stepped into your own little fairy tale.

Every season offers something slightly different, but the light here is consistently stunning.

One of the reasons I love Robelle Domain is its versatility. If the weather is cloudy or the sunlight isn't cooperating, we simply move to another part of the park.
The open grassy areas, natural rocks, charming bridges, and winding paths provide plenty of variety without needing to travel anywhere else. Children also love this location because they can run, play, explore, and simply be themselves, resulting in genuine smiles and natural family moments.
For families with young children, it's one of the easiest locations to create relaxed, candid photographs without anyone feeling like they're posing.

2. The Grassed Hill Opposite St Peter's Lutheran College
This is one of Springfield's hidden gems.
It doesn't have an official location name that most people recognise, so I normally arrive early and send my clients a Google Maps pin before the session.
If you're someone who loves wide open spaces and natural scenery, this spot is absolutely beautiful.

The rolling grass, scattered trees, and open sky create a peaceful setting that feels calm and uncluttered. During golden hour, the soft evening light turns the entire area into warm shades of gold, making it another wonderfully dreamy location for family photography.

It's perfect for families who prefer a simple, natural look without playgrounds or busy backgrounds.
Sometimes the simplest locations create the most timeless photographs.
3. Springfield Lakes Park
If you'd like a little more variety in your gallery, Springfield Lakes Park is another fantastic choice.
One of my favourite things about this location is the combination of water, trees, and walking paths.

The lakeside views create a peaceful backdrop, while the bushland footpaths add texture and depth to your photographs. Around the park you'll also find benches, open grass areas, and shaded spaces, allowing us to create several different looks during one session without travelling between locations.
This location works beautifully for:
• Families with older children
• Multi-generational family sessions
• Couples
• Maternity photography
Because there are so many different backdrops within walking distance, your final gallery feels diverse while still maintaining a consistent natural style.

4. My Home Studio in Augustine Heights
Not every family wants an outdoor photoshoot, and that's completely okay.
If you prefer an indoor session, you're always welcome to visit my cosy home studio in Augustine Heights.
Being indoors means we don't need to worry about the Queensland weather, summer heat, or unexpected rain.

The studio is air-conditioned, comfortable, and relaxed, making it especially suitable for:
• Young babies
• Toddlers
• Small family sessions
• Professional portraits
• Families who simply prefer indoor photography
We can even enjoy a coffee while creating beautiful photographs together.
Indoor sessions have a timeless, clean look and are perfect if you're after elegant portraits without the distractions of a busy outdoor environment.

Which Location Is Right for Your Family?
Every family is different, so there isn't one "perfect" location for everyone.
If you love dreamy golden light, I usually recommend Robelle Domain.
If you're looking for peaceful open spaces surrounded by nature, the grassed hill opposite St Peter's Lutheran College is a wonderful choice.
If you'd like lakes, walking paths, and a variety of scenery, Springfield Lakes Park offers plenty of beautiful options.
And if comfort, convenience, and weather-proof photography are your priorities, my Augustine Heights home studio is always ready to welcome you.
If you're still unsure, don't worry, I help every family choose the location that best matches their style, the ages of their children, and the overall feel they're hoping to achieve.
